Jesus Christ
The Father Revealed and His Redemptive Purpose Fulfilled
Why Christ Stands at the Center
Everything Scripture reveals about God comes into clearest focus in Jesus Christ. He is not merely a teacher about the Father; He is the Father’s final and fullest self-revelation and the One through whom God’s redeeming purpose is accomplished—Redeemer, revealer, mediator, risen Lord and the source of His people’s life. To behold Him is to see what God is like, what God has done to save and the pattern of life into which His people are called. The disciple therefore beholds Christ first as Redeemer and Lord, and from that foundation learns from Him as Teacher and follows Him as Pattern.
Beholding, Following, and Abiding
The study opens by beholding the Father revealed in the Son: God’s final word, the Word made flesh, the image of the invisible God, and the One who makes known the Father’s name, love, compassion and works. It then turns to what Christ has done for us: His perfect obedience, the new covenant, the cross where love, holiness and justice meet, the resurrection, access to the Father and His continuing intercession. Within that movement His invitation to learn from Him calls the disciple not merely to admire Him but to follow. The closing topics turn to abiding—remaining in Christ, depending upon His continuing work and knowing God as Father through Him.
