God’s Will
His Purposes and Our Response
Why His Will Matters
“What is God’s will for my life?” Scripture gives a richer answer than a hidden plan to be decoded. What God has revealed in His Word, we are called to obey; what He has not revealed, we are called to entrust to Him. His will is never arbitrary, because it flows from who He is—holy, good, loving, wise and faithful. And in Jesus, who came to do the Father’s will and yielded Himself to it even in Gethsemane, obedience becomes more than rule-keeping: it becomes a life shaped by Christ and enabled by the Spirit.
Knowing and Walking in His Will
The study begins by defining God’s will and locating it within His saving purpose in Christ. It then gathers what Scripture plainly names as His will—sanctification, renewed minds, prayer and thanksgiving, and lives marked by goodness—and shows how believers seek wisdom through prayer, spiritual understanding and faithful decisions. It also considers waiting, trials and God’s timing, teaching the disciple to obey what God has revealed while trusting Him with what remains hidden. At its centre stands the distinction between the revealed will we obey and the purposes God has not disclosed, which we entrust to Him. The study asks honestly what happens when our desires must change, when obedience is costly and when God’s timing differs from our own.
