One Governing Thread
Light
Primary canonical thread
Canonical WitnessDescription
Light is the governing thread because it functions throughout Scripture as the visible, perceptible mode in which God's glory and holiness make themselves known — from the first spoken light of creation to the pillar of fire that led Israel and the Lamb who is the light of the New Jerusalem. The single supporting thread absorbed here, the glory cloud that guided the exodus generation, entered the canon as one specific historical instance of this same governing pattern: God making his presence visible as light.
