The Word reveals God as Logos, the eternal, sovereign, wise, and faithful Self-Expression of God whose speech is never separate from His action. ‘By the word of the LORD the heavens were made’ (Psalm 33:6); John identifies that same speaking God as a person, ‘the Word,’ who ‘was with God and was God’ from the very beginning (John 1:1-3); and the claim becomes flesh and history when ‘the Word became flesh and dwelt among us’ (John 1:14).
